Saddlin' Up With The Western Saddle!!

Howdy!

Me so happy!! Yesterday, when I was letting Valley graze as usual, I went back up to the shed to get the English saddle to put on Valley. But then I decided to try the Western saddle instead, cause she's only had the English saddle on before (and only twice too). So I grabbed a blanket, and picked up the (heavy) Western saddle and headed down to where Valley and Chloe were grazing.

I laid the blanket on Valley's back, and then put the saddle on her back. As far as I can remember, she didn't react to it at all. So I straightened the saddle and girth. I pulled the girth underneath her and started to tighten it some. But she kept moving looking for better grass, which made it difficult to put on the girth. But eventually I finally got the girth on, and tightened to almost where I would have it if I was going to ride her. I would have tightened it even more, but the girth was too big for her. She's so small! I guess I might have to buy her a girth that will fit her. I don't know.

I led her around with the saddle on her. I meant to lunge her some, but I guess i forgot. Can't remember. I took some pictures which appear below:

Valley grazing with Western Saddle on.

Valley lookin' at me (and Chloe grazing in background between Valley's ears, lol)

Will post A.S.A.P. With more pictures! ;)

I was just looking at the picture at the bottome of your blog- Valley's small! But she's pretty! Really pretty! So, you have English and Western saddles? Which one do you prefer? I prefer English.

Yeah, she is small. That picture was taken the day I got her. She was 1 year 4 months old then. Now she's 2 years old. But she's still pretty small. She's not going to get very big.
Yeah, I have an OLD English saddle we get (cheap) from a person I know, and we have several Western saddles. I prefer Western. I don't exactly ride English, although I'd like to learn! I've always wanted to be able to jump!

uh, i guess she was nice to the horses. it was a year ago so i can't remeber too well... i <3 horses! how old were you when you got valley? did u name her?

I got her last spring, so I was 12. I'm 13 now.
No, I didn't name her.
Her previous owners had her mom when Valley was born.
She was born on Valentines Day two years ago, so that's why they named her Valentine (but I call her Valley)

O cool! Valley's a really pretty name! I got your comment on my blog on my post entitled 'Easter'. I was going to drink coffee Easter morning to help me wake up, even though it tastes nasty.

Thanx!

Oh, cool.
I know something that you could do instead to wake you up.
You could dump your head in a tub full of ICE cold water! ;D
