Update (finally)

Sorry for the lack of posting. It's not because I haven't had anything to post (because I do), it's mostly because I keep forgetting. So here I am! Guess I better get started now:



Valley's Escapade's
So Valley's Escapade's have not ceased (You may have noticed I am using unusual big words. well, their unusual for me... don't let it fool you. I'm not as much of a genius as I sound). I've been keeping her in the back pasture, but twice, when I had her on the leadrope tied to something, it came untied and she got away both times...

Well, one time, when of course she went over to her horsery friends, they happened to be on the side of their pasture that was next to a fairly busy rode. Luckily, there were a bunch of trees and bushes there, so me and Adam could trap Valley, and she was so easy to catch! Oh, and we found out why Valley likes the horses so much... She has a crush on the dark bay one!! She's in heat, and has fallen in love with him :P But the strange thing is... he's a gelding!! For those of you non-horsey people: that means a fixed male horse. Here is some pictures of the gelding, and Valley:

See!? Their totally in love! But it's tough love.. right after this picture they threw their heads back and squealed. Not sure which horse upset the other though... I think it was Vale's fault :P

Hurt foot
For the past.. week, or a little less, Valley has had a hurt foot :( She was limpin a bunch, and her left front forelock was really swollen. So I put her up in the barn stall, and soaked her foot in warm water mixed with epsom salt (to make the pain and swelling go down) several times. At first, it got worse :( So we called the vet (not our usual, cuz our usual is really busy [breeding season] and ain't doin no calls right now]) and she said to keep soaking it, then call her back again in a couple of days.

I've been giving her water, food, and a ton of hay (which is fun to do :D). The past couple days, she's really improving!! She's not limping that much now. YAY!! But the bad news is, she's loosing weight, cuz she can't graze cuz she's in the barn. So tomorrow I am going to take her out on the lead rope to let her graze for a long while. Hopefully soon she'll be back to her normal, healthy, rambunkshus (sp?), crazy, wild, stubborn, funny, beautiful, graceful, food-loving horse again!!

P.S. I am going to give the two horses in the pasture a name so I don't have to call them "gelding" and "chestnut". So... I'll call the gelding..... Cupid (cuz ya know Valley's name is VALENTINE, and their in love :P), and the chestnut... well.. since I don't know what gender he/she is.. then I'll give him/her a unisex name :) But what? uh.. You know what? I think I'll just go along and keep calling him/her Chestnut :)

The Trouble a Horse Can Get Into

Yesterday, I got a forwarded horsey e-mail, and I just had to share it with you! You never know how much your horse can get in trouble ;)


"The young filly needed to be freed from the tree after curiosity got the better of it and it wedged its head between separate sections of the tree. The horse, called Gracie, was unable to free itself and could have been in danger were it not for a passer-by who was able to come to the rescue after he heard the horse whinnying. Jason Harschbarger, a neighbor in the town of Pullman, West Virginia, USA, arrived at the scene which resembled the image of Winnie the Pooh getting stuck in the honey tree. Mr. Harschbarger collected his tools and was able to carefully set the horse free by using a chainsaw to slowly cut the wood around its neck. However, before he did so, he was able to take a few photographs.

Fortunately for Gracie, she was able to escape her ordeal with only a few minor injuries and, according to Mr. Harschbarger, is on the road to recovery. Following his rescue operation, Mr. Harschbarger told a local television station: 'She has a few cuts on her face and ear. Last I heard her jaw was a little dislocated but I think it is healing up and she can eat on her own again.' It remains unclear why Gracie put her head into the gap.
